QUESTIONS
I am due for a bi-annual flight review - will this count?
Yes, any additional rating will count as a biannual flight review as long as your current BFR has not expired.
What if I fail my checkride?
Additional training will be provided at the hourly rate. Some examiners charge a $500 retest fee. This retest fee is not included in your basic flat rate cost.
What should I bring?
Water shoes, shorts, cool clothes, your current medical certificate, government-issued photo I.D., license, and logbook.
Are there any minimum requirements for the course?
We require at least a private FAA pilot license, a valid 3rd class medical or BasicMed Qualification, and a current BFR.
What kind of weather is required?
VFR minimums and high work require 2500-3000 feet ceilings at the airport. Low sessions require about 1000 feet. Wind should be less than 12kts.
Can I fly in?
Yes! You can fly into KBGR (Bangor International) or KOLD (Old Town Municipal). Both have Jet-A and Avgas available.
Are hotels available nearby?
There are several hotels available within a short commute from the training airports in Bangor and Old Town.
Are the training programs available year-round?
No, our seaplane training operations are seasonal, running from roughly May through October.
What should I do to prepare ahead of time?
Familiarize yourself with our aircraft documents and amphibious procedures. Reading 'Notes of a Seaplane Instructor' or taking the Gleim course is highly recommended.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Rescheduling is handled case-by-case. Monitor weather via AviationWeather.gov or ForeFlight and keep in touch as your lesson approaches.
What if the weather turns bad?
Safety is our priority. If weather exceeds limits, we will work with you to find the next available training slot.
